She met Abraham Quintanilla Jr. there when he was serving in the US military; he was stationed there at the time. In June 1963, the pair exchanged wedding vows.

The family relocated to Texas after the birth of their first child, Abraham “A.B.” Quintanilla III, and had two more daughters, Suzette and Selena. All of Abraham’s children received music instruction from the man who was also a singer-songwriter.

His three kids came together to create Selena y Los Dinos. Selena stood out among them as the leading lady. Along with the rest of her family, Marcella fought for Selena’s justice when she was murdered in 1995.

Yolanda Saldivar, a friend, and employee of Selena was finally found guilty of the murder and given a life sentence with the chance of release in 30 years.

Abraham Quintanilla Jr., who had been forced into the military in October 1961 and was posted at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, close to Tacoma, was introduced to Marcella Samora when she was living in Washington.

The daughter of Marcella and Abraham was born at Freeport Community Hospital on April 16, 1971, nevertheless. There, one of her roommates suggested the name “Selena”.
