After meeting at an evangelical rally in October 1957, Ernestine married ‘Little Richard’ on July 11, 1959, in California. She was her husband’s only wife. Danny Jones Penniman, a boy, was adopted by them. Danny arrived with his new family when he was one year old. Richard and his son remained close since Jones was also one of his bodyguards. Regrettably, the couple split in 1964.
