Erin Morrow Hawley is an American lawyer and law lecturer. At the University of Missouri School of Law, Erin Morrow Hawley teaches federal courts and constitutional law, as well as administrative, tax, and agricultural law.

Early Life

Erin Morrow Hawley’s actual date of birth is unknown. She was, however, born between 1982 and 1985. She grew up in Des Moines, New Mexico, but was born in Alameda, California. Erin is a senior legal fellow at Independent Women’s Law Center and is an attorney and law professor. She previously worked at the University of Missouri as an Associate Professor of Law. She taught constitutional law, federal income tax, tax policy, and agricultural law at the university. Furthermore, her scholarship mostly centered on federal courts, and she has been published in a number of prestigious journals.

She also worked as an appellate lawyer at King & Spalding LLP and Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Washington, DC, before starting law school. She also worked as an attorney for ‘Attorney General Michael Mukasey’ at the Department of Justice. She has also worked as a clerk for Chief Justice John G. She has written a number of amicus briefs in cases before the United States Supreme Court. In the case of Standard Fire Insurance Co. v. Knowles, she co-authored a brief with Paul Clement on behalf of the ‘Defense Research Institute.’ She also produced an amicus brief in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, which was presented to the United States Supreme Court in 2014. As a result, defending the store’s stance that it might chose whether or not to provide contraception coverage to its employees.

She also co-founded the legal advocacy nonprofits Missouri Liberty Project and Missouri Forward Foundation with her spouse in 2013 and 2014. In the year 2010, Erin married Josh Hawley. Josh is now the Attorney General of Missouri. They met for the first time at Yale Law School. The couple has three children together. Elijah Hawley (b. 2013) and Blaise Hawley (b. 2015) are their sons, while Abigail Hawley, their first daughter, was born in 2020.
